Catholic Social Teaching

At St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, our Catholic faith calls us to love God and love our neighbour in every situation. Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, we encourage our children to recognise their responsibility to care for others, stand up for justice and make a positive difference in the world.

Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is rooted in Scripture and developed through the wisdom of the Church. It provides a moral framework that helps us understand how we can live out our faith in everyday life and respond to the needs of others with compassion, dignity and love.

As Jesus teaches us:

At St John Fisher, Catholic Social Teaching is not something we only learn about - it is something we live.

We help children understand that they are called to be active citizens who care for the world and the people in it. Through prayer, charity, fundraising, pupil leadership, community projects, worship, and our curriculum, children learn how faith can inspire action.

Every person is created in the image and likeness of God and deserves love, dignity and respect.

We work together to help everyone flourish and contribute positively to society.

Everyone has a role to play in creating a fair and loving world.

Option for the Poor and Vulnerable

We are called to care especially for those most in need.

Stewardship of Creation

We have a responsibility to care for God’s world and protect the environment.

Solidarity and Peace

We recognise that we are one human family and are called to live with compassion, justice and peace.

Dignity of Work

Every person deserves respect, fairness, and opportunity.

Inspired by the teachings of the Church, including Pope Leo XIV and previous Catholic leaders, Catholic Social Teaching continues to help us understand how faith should shape our actions in an ever-changing world.
