Sacramental Preparation
Sacramental Preparation at St John Fisher Catholic Primary School
At St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, we recognise the sacraments as special encounters with God’s love and an important part of every child’s faith journey.
We work closely with families and our parish to support children as they prepare to receive the sacraments with reverence, understanding and joy.
Sacramental preparation is a shared partnership between home, school and parish, helping children deepen their faith and strengthen their relationship with God.
First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
Children usually prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion during Key Stage 2 through a programme led in partnership with the parish.
During preparation, children learn about:
- God’s love and forgiveness
- The importance of prayer and reflection
- The meaning of reconciliation
- The Eucharist and the Mass
- What it means to belong to God’s family
Families play a vital role in supporting children throughout this journey, and parents and carers are encouraged to attend preparation sessions and parish celebrations where possible.
Working Together
We understand that sacramental preparation is an important and joyful time for families. School and parish work closely together to ensure children feel supported, confident and spiritually prepared.
Information about sacramental preparation dates, meetings and parish arrangements will be shared directly with families at the appropriate time.
Please contact the school office or parish for further information.
Together, we walk in faith and celebrate God’s love.
Love. Learn. Shine.
